Newspapers & Microfilm

Lower Naugatuck Valley History Archive (f.k.a. Ansonia Digital Archives of Evening Sentinels) reflects the Lower Naugatuck Valley regionalized effort, currently comprised of the Ansonia Historic District Committee, Derby and Ansonia Public libraries. Newspapers have been digitized from microfilm beginning with the 1846 Derby Journal through the January,1931 Evening Sentinel. The archive of newspapers is a free resource for searching the Valley’s history based on word search or browsable based on date. Articles can be cropped and downloaded. The digitization effort to date has been funded by the                Valley Community Foundation and the City of Derby through their 350th Anniversary committee. The group is planning to secure additional funding to digitize the Evening Sentinel through 1992, the final year of publication.
